Description

Belmont House, located at No 23 New Street, is an 18th-century building that was refronted around 1840-1850. It features a stucco facade with a cornice and parapet, topped by a hipped roof covered with old tiles. The house has two storeys and three dormers, with a three-bay facade that includes a central door with six panels. The door is surrounded by a Doric entablature supported by piers, and the top four panels of the door are now glazed. Belmont House is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 33 (odd) and Nos 2 to 76 (even) opposite, along with the walls associated with Nos 32 to 38 (even) and No 40.
