Description

42 and 44 New Street are early 19th-century buildings with a colourwashed brick facade, although timbering is visible in the side passage. They feature a tiled roof and stand three storeys tall with three windows. The top floor has early 19th-century casements, the first floor has late 19th-century sashes with segmental arches, and the ground floor has an altered 19th-century shop front. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 76 (even) and Nos 1 to 33 (odd), as well as the walls associated with Nos 32 to 40 (even).
