Description
No. 52 New Street is an early 19th-century building featuring a stucco facade with angle pilasters extending the full height and a rusticated ground floor with a decorative band above. The building has a simple moulded cornice and a parapet, with the roof not visible. It stands three storeys tall and has three windows, all of which are sash windows with architraves on the top two floors, complete with glazing bars. The central door is framed by modified Doric pilasters and an entablature that includes an architrave, frieze, and cornice, topped with a flat pediment. Although the street facade dates to the early 19th century, a rear drainpipe is dated 1719, and interior features suggest an earlier core. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 2 to 76 (even) and Nos. 1 to 33 (odd), as well as the walls associated with Nos. 32 to 40 (even).
