Description
Hillside Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located in Burgh by Sands. It features Flemish bond brickwork with pale headers set on a chamfered stone plinth, topped with a greenslate roof that has eaves modillions and end brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with flanking single-bay extensions that have a lower roof line. The entrance includes a panelled door with a glazed fanlight and a porch supported by engaged Roman Doric fluted columns, featuring a triglyph frieze and cornice. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are adorned with flat brick arches and painted stone sills. There is a 20th-century window on the ground floor of the right extension. A further extension is located to the left, and a barn to the right bears the initials T.R. 1857, although these are not of particular interest.
