Description

Brewery Cottage is a late 18th-century house with alterations from the early 19th century, located in Burgh by Sands. The house and attached barn share a common roof. It is built of whitewashed cobble walls with flush quoins, topped with a graduated slate roof and brick chimney stacks. The two-storey, two-bay house has a six-panel door with a glazed fanlight, set within a 19th-century pilastered surround topped with a triangular pediment. Sash windows with glazing bars are set in plain painted stone surrounds. An octagonal patterned casement window is positioned above the entrance. Small, square blocked windows are found on the ground floor to the left and the first floor to the right, with similar blocked windows in the left end wall. The barn, also two-storey and two-bay, has plank cart doors, and two small loft openings above. A single-storey, single-bay extension extends to the far right, featuring several small openings, one of which is blocked.
