Description

Garristown is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with an early 19th-century outbuilding. The structure features lime washed brick walls and a Welsh slate roof, along with rebuilt chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has three bays, with an extension that has been converted to three bays as well. The oldest part of the farmhouse is mostly blank, except for a plank door set in an alternate block surround, leading to a through passage and a corresponding doorway behind. The central three bays are irregular and contain sash windows with glazing bars, some of which are vertical. There is a 20th-century door in a plain stone surround.

The outbuilding consists of three narrow bays with segmental head openings; the first-floor openings have brick lattice screens. It also features a 20th-century garage door with a loading door above. The south front has 20th-century windows in the oldest part, while the central section has 19th-century sashes. The outbuilding includes two segmental-headed entrances and six vent slits. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase with a ramped handrail, although the balusters are now boxed in. A complete panelled room features a deep moulded cornice, a prominent dado rail, and cupboards flanking the chimney breast, with panelled doors. The right-hand cupboard has a shell hood and shaped shelves, while the original fireplace has been removed. The owner notes that the ceilings are made of reeds and plaster. The listing does not include other farm buildings.
