Description

Maplebeck Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1729, which was refenestrated in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick, partly rendered, and features a concrete tile roof. The building has a rendered brick plinth, first floor and front lintel bands, and cogged and dentillated eaves. It has three gable stacks and is two storeys plus garrets, arranged in an L-plan with three bays.

The south front includes central ashlar steps leading to an 18th-century panelled door set in moulded jambs, topped by a fanlight and flanked by single sash windows, with four blocked openings. To the right, there is a cellar opening with a segmental head. Above, there are three sashes and four blocked openings. The east front has three sashes and a round-headed stair light above, with a blocked opening and a sash to its right. Above again, there is a blocked opening to the garret on the left. The north gable features a 20th-century casement to the right. The rear wing has a 20th-century glazed porch in the return angle with a close boarded door, and above it, there is a casement with a segmental head. A lean-to addition in the return angle has a barred Yorkshire sash on the north side.

Inside, the farmhouse contains three fitted cupboards with fielded panelled doors, seven early 19th-century fielded panelled doors, an early 19th-century hob grate with a floral panelled stone surround, and a mid-19th-century carved wood fire surround with a dentillated cornice. The dogleg stair features a half landing, decorated string, moulded scrolled ramped handrail, and stick balusters. The building also has stop-chamfered span beams with single ogee stops and remains of a fireplace bressummer.
