Description
South Lodge is a former lodge, likely built in 1826, the same year as the stable block, for the Brisco family of Crofton Hall. It is constructed from rusticated calciferous sandstone ashlar set on a chamfered plinth, featuring pilasters and a moulded cornice. The building has a graduated hipped Welsh slate roof and ashlar chimney stacks. It is 1½ storeys high with 2 bays, a top-glazed 4-panel door, and 2-pane sash windows in stone surrounds. There is a 20th-century window on the left side and at the rear. South Lodge is part of a group of 2 lodges that flank an arched gateway, which formerly led to Crofton Hall.
