Description
The gate arch and flanking walls, located to the southeast of Crofton Hall, were likely built in 1826 for the Brisco family, the same year as the stable block. Constructed from calciferous sandstone ashlar, the tall gateway features a lower wall that has a serpentine shape. It is flanked by fluted Ionic columns on either side of a tall round-headed arch, which is topped with a moulded entablature and a dentilled cornice. The wall is made of rusticated ashlar. Originally, the arch was topped with a carved stag, which has since been removed. This structure is part of a group that includes the two lodges situated behind it.
