Description

West Lodge is a former lodge, likely built in 1826, the same year as the stable block, for the Brisco family of Crofton Hall. The building is constructed of rusticated calciferous sandstone ashlar, set on a chamfered plinth, and features pilasters and a moulded cornice. It has a graduated hipped Welsh slate roof and ashlar chimney stacks. The lodge is 1½ storeys tall with 2 bays, and it includes a top-glazed 4-panel door and 2-pane sash windows set in stone surrounds. West Lodge is part of a group of 2 lodges that flank an arched gateway, which formerly led to Crofton Hall.
