Description

A row of six houses forming a terrace, built in the 1830s in Carlisle. The houses are constructed of Flemish bond brickwork, with lighter-coloured brick used as headers on a chamfered plinth. Nos. 28-34 have a plastered finish. The roofs are Welsh slate, with original shared brick chimney stacks. The houses are two storeys high, with a central four houses having a higher roof line than the flanking properties. Each house has a front door with steps, a fanlight above, and a pilastered surround featuring false keys and impost details. Some houses have additional doorways leading to a through-passage to the right of the front door. The windows are mostly 20th century replacements, but some retain original sash windows with glazing bars, all set in plain reveals with stone sills. No. 30 has a mid-20th century projecting shop window. The interior has not been inspected. The houses are depicted on the 1840 tithe map.
