Description

71 and 72 George Street is a Georgian building dating from 1814. It is a square structure with a level parapet around the top and a gable end facing George Street. The building has three storeys and an attic, featuring a moulded cornice. The main entrance for No 71 is centrally located and consists of a panelled door with a fanlight above, framed by a doorcase with fluted half-columns and a cornice. No 72 has a plain doorway. On the ground floor, there is one 16-parted sash window, while the upper floors contain two 12-paned windows and one 16-paned window, with one window on the top floor being blank. There is also a long staircase window in the centre and a stroll window in the top attic. The facade facing Scotch Street has one sash window on each floor.
