Description

Somerset House, located at 52 Duke Street, is a Grade II* listed building from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed stone and features slightly projecting bands between the storeys, along with a stone parapet. The building stands three storeys tall and has a central doorway that is adorned with a Georgian Gothic porch, which includes clustered columns, a raking pediment, and winding steps with ornamental wrought iron balustrades. Each floor has three 3-light windows with small panes and stone mullions. Inside, there is a Gothic arch in the hall. Somerset House is part of a group that includes Nos 43 to 50, Nos 52 to 55, Nos 65 to 76, and the Town Hall.
