Description
Nos 10 and 12 Longwaithe Road are two houses that form a row, dated and inscribed above each entrance with A.B. 1662 for No. 12 and I.M.W. 1688 for No. 10. They have undergone extensive alterations in the early 19th century and restoration in the 20th century. The houses are built from red sandstone rubble with flush quoins on a chamfered plinth and feature a common graduated greenslate roof topped with tall candlestick chimney stacks. Each house is two storeys high with three bays. The doors, which are from the 20th century, are set in chamfered surrounds beneath dated and inscribed chamfered lintels that have hood moulds. No. 12 includes niches under hood moulds flanking its entrance. The windows are casements set in 19th-century chamfered surrounds, also under hood moulds. There is a single-bay extension to the right of No. 10, which has a 20th-century porch and is considered of no interest.
