Description

Four houses forming a terrace, built in the 1830s and later altered, are located on Warwick Road, Carlisle. The exterior is Flemish bond brickwork with light-coloured headers on a chamfered plinth, and painted stone dressings. Nos. 63 and 65 have Welsh slate roofs, while Nos. 67 and 69 have common graduated greenslate roofs. Original shared brick chimney stacks are present, though partly reduced.

Each house is two storeys and two bays wide. The front doors, with overlights, are contained within left and right pilastered surrounds, except for No. 69, which has a panelled door in a stone surround and a fanlight within a round brick arch. The doorway to No. 67A is the former through-passage doorway for No. 69 and shares similar detailing. Ground floor canted bay windows are likely a late 19th-century addition. Above, the sash windows are set in brick reveals on Nos. 63 and 65, but in stone architraves on Nos. 67 and 69. The interiors were not inspected.

Nos. 63 and 65 share a straight joint with Nos. 67 and 69, and it is likely that the latter were originally built first. These properties appear on the 1842 Studholme map of Carlisle.
