Description

Monkhill Windmill is a former windmill dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar and features a conical shape with three storeys. There are two entrances on the ground floor, each with wooden lintels. The building has window openings on three levels. At the time of the survey, the roof and sails were missing, and the windmill was derelict and unoccupied. For further information, refer to the Transactions of the Cumberland & Westmorland Antiquarian & Archaeological Society, new series, volume 72, pages 129-132.
