Description
Drover's Rest is a public house that dates back to the early 19th century. It is constructed of whitewashed brick, with part of the former barn and stables made from cobbles. The building features a graduated greenslate roof and brick chimney stacks. It stands two storeys high and has two bays, with the former barn and stables located to the right under a common roof. On the left side, there is a single-storey, single-bay lean-to. The entrance has a plank door set in a plain painted stone surround, and there are 20th-century casement windows with glazing bars. Above the entrance, there is a large painted inn sign depicting a cattle drover, which was created while the pub was part of the Carlisle and District State Management Scheme, prior to 1973. The former barn and stables have a blocked entrance and windows.
