Description

Myrtle Cottage is a late 18th-century house located in Beaumont. The exterior is constructed of river cobbles and random rubble, previously rendered, with V-jointed quoins. The roof is slate, and the chimney stacks are rebuilt in brick. The main part of the house is two storeys high and three bays wide, with a one-bay extension to the right under a common roof. A further one-bay extension is situated to the left, under a lower roofline. A plank door is set within a plain stone surround. Replacement sash windows with glazing bars are also set within plain stone surrounds. Two 20th-century entrances are present on the left-hand extension. Upper floor sash windows, also with glazing bars, sit within plain stone surrounds and are at varying levels. The extension to the right features a similar entrance and windows containing 2- and 3-pane sashes. The cottage was unoccupied and undergoing restoration at the time of survey.
