Description

This is a roadside inspection chamber for a reservoir, dated 1868 and inscribed with "WIGTON WATERWORKS W. BANKS, ESQ CHAIRMAN." It is constructed from red sandstone ashlar and features a small gabled stone cell built into the side of a covered reservoir. The chamber has an iron door set in a chamfered surround, topped with a hoodmould, and includes a scrolled inscription beneath a date shield. At the time of the survey, the interior floor was missing and the chamber was in a derelict condition.
