Description

Broomhill is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with an extension added in 1797, marked by the initials G.T.M. on a stone lintel. The building features red sandstone rubble walls, with the original house on the right covered by a Welsh slate roof, while the extension on the left has a stone-slate roof. Both sections have coped gables and kneelers, along with yellow brick and 20th-century brick chimney stacks.

The original house is two storeys high with three bays, featuring sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor and single-pane sashes above, all framed by plain stone surrounds. There are shutter hinge brackets on the ground floor. The entrance was likely at the rear but is now obscured by the 19th-century extension, though the east gable retains its rear kneeler, indicating the width of the original house.

The extension is also two storeys and has two bays, featuring a four-panel door with a plain stone surround and an inscribed, dated lintel in an oval panel. Above the entrance is a small Yorkshire sash window, while the other windows are single-pane sashes. To the right of the farmhouse is a 18th-century barn, which has a lower roof line, slit vents, and one central ground floor mullioned window that is now filled, likely originating from the original house.
