Description

Broomhill Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with 19th-century changes including new windows and a new roof. The building features a rubble stone base and chalk-block walls, topped with a slate roof that has gable ends, while the stable on the left has a Roman-tile roof. There is a brick chimney stack on the left gable. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three windows on the ground floor, which include three-light ovolo-moulded stone mullions with separate labels above, iron casements, and lead lights. There is also a two-light 20th-century wooden casement at the left end. On the first floor, there are three-light iron casements with lead lights from the 19th century, and the window heads have cambered stone voussoirs. The front door, located at the center, is a panelled and glazed door from the 20th century. The porch is made of flint rubble with dressed stone jambs, featuring a flat arch entrance and a gabled slate roof, also from the 19th century. The stable attached to the left end uses the same materials and has a Roman-tile roof, with a plank stable shutter and a plank loft door above, which has a wooden lintel. There is an inserted two-light casement on the left side at ground level. Additionally, there is a rubble-stone shed attached at the left end along the lane, which has an open gable end and a Roman-tile roof.
