Description
No. 5 Eden Street is a shop built in the early 1860s. It features incised stucco with string courses and has a slate roof with brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has three bays. The ground floor has large 20th-century shop windows and an entrance framed in greenslate. The central bay projects, with a first-floor window set in a chamfered surround beneath a cornice supported by console brackets on pilaster strips. Above, there is a round-headed sash window under a shaped string course. The other sash windows also have chamfered surrounds, while the smaller attic windows are adorned with patterned cast-iron balconies over the cornice. This building is listed partly for its group value with the adjacent Golf Hotel and National Westminster Bank.
