Description
Causewayhead War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, located in the churchyard of St Paul’s Church on the B5302 in Causewayhead, near Silloth, Cumbria. It is prominently placed to the left of the churchyard path that leads to the church from the entrance. The memorial features a cross approximately 3 meters tall with a wheel head, adorned with knot work carvings and a monogram reading “HIS” at the center of the cross head, set on a low tapering plinth. The lower shaft includes a bronze plaque with the inscription: IN HONOUR OF THE/ MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 18/ (NAMES).
