Description

Clipston Court is a house dating from the mid-18th century, constructed of lias ashlar with a slate roof. It originally likely had a U-shaped plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The main front is symmetrical, featuring a five-window range. The central door, which is from the 19th century, has four panels and is framed by a plain stone surround topped with a 19th-century hood. The ground-floor windows are 19th-century sashes with plain stone surrounds that include keystones, while the first-floor features narrower two-light casements with similar surrounds. The building has an ashlar gable parapet and two roof dormers with sashes beneath arch heads. Ashlar stacks are located at both ends, and there is a flat string course between the floors along with rusticated quoins at the corners. To the rear, there is a 19th-century wing on the right and a 20th-century porch on the left. Inside, the room to the left of the entrance has a reeded wood fire surround.
