Description
Ashes is a house built in the mid-18th century, constructed from ashlar stone with a stone slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan with a rear wing and stands two storeys high with five bays. The building features a plinth and rusticated quoins. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door set within an eared architrave, topped by a pulvinated frieze and a modillioned pediment. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, framed in raised surrounds, and there is a modillioned cornice along the top. The house has end stacks for chimneys.
On the rear elevation of the wing, there is a six-panel door in an ashlar surround with splayed bases. To the right on the ground floor, there is a three-light chamfered mullion window. Above, on the first floor, there is a tall round-arched staircase window with an ashlar surround, featuring small imposts and a keystone, as well as a 20-pane window in a weathered architrave.
