Description
The Church Hall, originally a national school built in 1845, is located on Gruel Street in Hawes. Constructed from rubble with a stone slate roof, this single-storey building features four bays and a central gabled porch. The corners of the building are accentuated with quoins. The porch has a board door set within a round-arched ashlar surround, complete with imposts and a keystone. The windows are designed as two-light openings, featuring Y tracery, also set in round-arched ashlar surrounds with imposts and keystones. Stone gutter brackets are present, and there is an eaves stack positioned between the second bay and the porch. The building is topped with ashlar coping and has a bell turret on the right gable. To the left, there is a two-storey schoolmaster's house that has been altered and is not of special interest.
