Description

Pear Tree House is a house, originally built as two cottages, dated 1717 and altered and extended in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a slate roof and brick end and ridge stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and originally presented a two-storey, two-window facade. A six-panel part-glazed door is located to the right of the centre, sheltered by a timber trellis porch with a wood lintel. The ground floor features 20-pane sash windows with wood lintels, while the first floor has 16-pane sashes to the centre and right, also with wood lintels. The left gable end, which faces the road, incorporates a first-floor 16-pane sash window, a stop-chamfered wood lintel, and a datestone within the ironstone gable. A three-storey, two-window extension to the right (number 29) features casement and sash windows with wood lintels and a 20th-century ridged tile roof. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
