Description
Windlass Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage located on the east side of the Grand Union Canal in Whilton. It is constructed of red brick with a tiled roof and features brick end stacks. The cottage has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a two-window range. The central door is topped with an overlight, and there are three-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors. All doors and windows are adorned with stone sills and lintels that include keyblocks. The building has a storey band and brick-nogged eaves. To the right, there is a single-storey wing with a back door and a slate roof. Additionally, there is a lean-to outhouse or barn located at the rear.
