Description
The Thatched Cottage is a 18th-century cottage located on the north side of Whilton Main Street. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features a thatched roof with brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a two-window range. The principal elevation facing the street includes three-light casement windows on the ground floor, except for a small rectangular window on the far left, and a two-light casement window on the first floor; all windows are topped with timber lintels. There is an entrance at the rear, which is accessed through a 20th-century porch. The cottage has quoins and a stone-coped gable with kneelers on the left side. Inside, the cottage features chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
