Description
Dormer Cottage is a house dated 1689, constructed from coursed squared ironstone with a pantile roof and a central rendered ridge stack. It features a 2-unit plan, is two storeys tall with an attic, and has a three-window range. The front includes a 20th-century glazed door to the left, which is set within a 20th-century greenhouse/conservatory, and a 20th-century window to the right of the door. There is a small square window with a chamfered stone surround located centrally on both the ground and first floors. To the right of center, a two-light casement window has replaced a former door, and a two-light chamfered mullion window is positioned at the far right. On the first floor, there are two-light casement windows with timber lintels on the left and right. The roof has two gabled dormers, and the gables are stone-coped with kneelers. A datestone inscribed "TM/1689" is found on the right gable. Inside, the cottage features bar-stop-chamfered spine beams and joists, an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, and a fitted corner cupboard with shaped shelves.
