Description
Churchgate is a former farmhouse dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a corrugated asbestos roof with brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan, stands two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range.
The central entrance has a 20th-century door with a gabled hood above it. To the left of the door is a two-light chamfered stone mullion window with a hood mould, while to the right are two three-light casement windows with timber lintels. On the first floor, there is a three-light casement window to the right, a two-light leaded casement window above the door, and another three-light leaded casement window to the left, all featuring timber lintels.
The building has quoins, moulded stone eaves, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. The left gable end includes three-light casements with timber lintels on both the ground and first floors, as well as a small rectangular attic window with a chamfered stone surround and hood mould. The interior has not been inspected.
