Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of rendered brick with a slate roof and features brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The building has a central staircase plan and stands three storeys tall with a five-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a fanlight, set within a doorcase that has Roman Doric pilasters and a broken entablature with triglyphs supporting an open pediment. The ground and first floors have 12-pane sash windows, while the second floor features 6-pane sashes. The three central bays are adorned with a moulded and painted cornice and pediment. Inside, the staircase hall boasts a stone floor and an open well staircase with stick balusters, carved tread ends, and a ramped and wreathed mahogany handrail. The dado features a Greek key ornament along the dado rail, and the chimneypiece is made of wood with fluted Roman Doric pilasters and an entablature.
