Description

HENHULL C.P. CHESTER ROAD SJ 65 SW 4/67 2 Basin End - GV II

Formerly canal worker's cottage, now holiday cottage, early C19. Red brick, in English Bond, with slate roof. 2 bays of 2 storeys with single storey lean-to (south). The centre bay is set forward and contains a semi-circular arched opening and frame with a C20 flush door. Horizontal sliding sashes at ground floor and flush casements above, all with glazing bars and small panes. The windows have stone sills and segmental arches with turning pieces. The gabled centre bay and main gables have shaped purlin ends, projecting verge courses and wide soffites. The roof of the lean-to (south) is corrugated asbestos-cement sheeting. There is also a small lean-to at the rear (west). There are horizontal sliding sashes in the rear gable. Interior: Not of special interest.
