Description
The dry dock at Braunston Wharf dates from around 1800 and is constructed of painted brick with an artificial stone slate roof. It features seven bays, each originally with a flat brick arch that has been blocked. In the blocking, there are now four-light casement windows with wooden lintels, and a doorway with a plank door is located in the third bay from the left. The building has seven skylights and similar blocked arches at the rear. The right side is partly timber boarded and includes a boat entrance with 2nd-century doors. On the left side, there are two brick buttresses flanking a doorway that has an arched wooden frame and a flat timber hood supported by brackets. Blocked windows are set in arched brick recesses on either side of the doorway, with an arched window above it. The interior has not been inspected.
