Description

The Manor House is a house dating from the 17th century, which was remodelled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with a tile roof, and has a rendered stack to the right of the centre. The house is two storeys and an attic, with six bays. The entrance is in the third bay from the left, featuring a stone four-centred arch and a six-panel double door with an overlight. There are two two-light stone-mullioned windows with square hoods to the left. Three similar windows are to the right, with the window in the second bay from the right being blocked. The first floor has two-light windows with moulded stone frames and stone-mullions. The windows in the two left bays and the second bay from the right are also blocked. A C19 gabled attic dormer is present. Gable ends are coped and have kneelers. Early 19th century sash windows with square hoods are on the left side. A wing projects forward from the right side at the rear, dating to the 17th century and made from similar materials. It has a C19 French window with a square stone hood on the ground floor, and two-light stone-mullioned windows to the first floor and attic. A 17th century dormer with a shaped gable is located at the rear of the main block. The ground and first floors are hidden by 19th century brick extensions. Inside, the interior was remodelled in the early 19th century, with ceilings featuring ornamental plaster borders from this period. A ground floor room has a 17th century stone fireplace with a moulded four-centred arch. A doorway to the kitchen at the rear has a 17th century moulded wood frame with stop-chamfered jambs and an old studded plank door. A similar doorway to the corridor on the ground floor exists.
