Description

Merryhill House is a former rectory, dating from 1839 and designed by H.J. Underwood. It is now a house. The building is constructed of rendered walls with a hipped slate roof and rendered stacks. It is two storeys high and originally comprised three bays, with the two outer bays projecting slightly. A central porch features square piers and a straight, moulded entablature. A 20th-century door with an overlight and side lights is set within rendered pilasters. There are 15-pane sash windows in plain rendered frames on either side of the porch, and 12-pane sash windows on the first floor. The building has a moulded parapet. A rear verandah is present, with rendered Tuscan columns. To the left is a contemporary service block, constructed of similar materials and two storeys high, with two bays. It contains a 20th-century entrance to a garage on the ground floor and sash windows in rendered surrounds to the first floor. The interior was not inspected.
