Description
Heath Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the mid-18th century, later remodeled in the early and mid-19th century. It features coursed squared ironstone with limestone dressings and a slate roof, along with brick lateral and end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan with a cross wing and stands two storeys tall, with a three-storey cross wing and a four-window range.
The tall cross wing on the left has a giant segmental-headed blank arch that is rendered within, framing a tripartite sash window on the ground floor. This window has a 12-pane centre and 4-pane side sashes, with stone sills and surrounds. The first floor features a wood mullion and transom window with a similar surround, and the lintel forms part of a band at the base of the arch. Above, there is a gable with a 2-light casement and a timber lintel. The building also includes a basement window and quoins.
To the right, the three-window wing has a centrally located part-glazed door and wood mullion and transom windows, all adorned with hood moulds. There is a 20th-century conservatory porch to the right, along with a single-storey 19th-century extension behind.
Inside, the farmhouse boasts a fine mid-18th-century marble chimneypiece with an overmantel in the large first-floor room of the cross wing, as well as elements of a staircase from the same period featuring barley-sugar twist balusters.
