Description
Homedale House is a former farmhouse dated 1649, located on the south side of Farthingstone Main Street. It is built of coursed ironstone rubble with a tile roof and features brick end and ridge stacks set on a stone base. The house has a lobby-entry plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The doorway is slightly right of centre and has a 4-centred arch, a hood mould, and a lintel inscribed with the year 1649. This doorway is flanked by three-light stone mullion windows, also with hood moulds. To the left of the door, there is a single-storey projecting addition that was formerly used as a dairy, which blocks the left end of the window. Above the door, there is a two-light mullion window, flanked by three-light casement windows that have replaced the original mullions, all featuring hood moulds. The building has a chamfered plinth and stone coped gables with kneelers. At the rear, there is a cross wing behind the left end. Inside, the house includes an open fireplace, stop-chamfered spine beams, and a staircase with turned balusters. The rear cross wing features a moulded spine beam with stops and a fireplace with a 4-centred arch.
