Description
The Firs is a house dating from the 18th century, located on the south side of Farthingstone Main Street. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with a tile roof and features brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The building has a three-unit through-passage plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a four-window range.
The entrance is a five-panel door situated to the right of the centre, which is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled timber porch. To the right of the door is a nine-pane window, while to the left is a 20th-century bow window in an enlarged opening, and a 20th-century window at the far left. The first floor has 20th-century casements, except for a three-light casement window to the right. All windows are adorned with a chamfered plinth, quoins, and stone coped gables with kneelers. There is a projection for a bread oven beside the stack on the left side. The interior features stop-chamfered spine beams and a staircase with splat balusters.
