Description

Number 20 and the attached outbuilding and garage to the north are located on West Street in Kings Cliffe. The house dates from the early to mid-19th century, while the outbuilding and garage have origins in the 17th century. The house is constructed from squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof along with a corrugated metal roof for the outbuilding and garage.

The house was originally designed with a two-unit plan and includes a carriage arch on the left side. It has a three-window range on the first floor, featuring 19th-century style casements set beneath the eaves. There are two similar casements on the ground floor, positioned under flat stone arches, and a 20th-century door located to the far right, also under a similar arch. The carriage arch has a segmental head and there is a central brick stack.

The outbuilding and garage, which are attached to the rear of the house by a 20th-century wall, are part of a 17th-century range that was originally linked to number 22. This structure is now a single unit plan, two storeys high, with a one-window range of three-light stone mullion windows, and it has a corrugated metal roof. Originally likely used for domestic purposes, it now serves as a garage and outbuilding for number 22.
