Description
Boscobel is a house located on Park Street in Kings Cliffe, dating from the late 17th century, with a datestone indicating alterations made in 1777. The building features squared coursed limestone and a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed with a three-unit plan, it stands two storeys tall with an attic. The façade includes a three-window range of 19th-century style casements beneath renewed wooden lintels, and a 20th-century door positioned to the left of center, also under a renewed wooden lintel. There are two hipped roof dormers, one of which has a leaded casement. The house has ashlar end stacks with moulded cornices and a datestone located between the first-floor windows on the left. The left gable displays a large projecting chimney breast and a two-light stone mullion window with chamfered mullions on the first floor. The rear elevation features two two-light stone mullion windows with chamfered mullions and one three-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window. There is an 18th-century extension at the rear left. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have stop-chamfered spine beams and likely retains remnants of open fireplaces.
