Description

A group of two houses, now three dwellings, dates to the early 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. The buildings are constructed of squared coursed limestone with an ashlar facade, and have Collyweston slate and concrete tile roofs. Originally, the houses were planned with two and three rooms per unit, forming an L-shaped range. The two-storey structure has an attic and a seven-window front. The first floor features leaded cross windows with moulded stone architraves. The ground floor has 8-paned sash windows in similar surrounds. The windows on the far left were originally single-light with transoms, but are now blind. A six-panel door is located between the windows on the left, and a pair of similar doors is situated between the windows on the right. All doors have moulded stone architraves with fanlights featuring radiating glazing bars; two of the fanlights are blind. The building has a chamfered plinth and a raised band between the floors. Three Lincolnshire dormers are present, one with leaded lights. The roof has ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, and brick and ashlar stacks at the ridge and ends. The rear eaves are at two levels. 19th-century extensions extend to the rear. Inside number 12, there is some original bolection moulded panelling and a bolection moulded fire surround, as well as a first-floor fireplace with a stone surround. A 18th-century staircase has turned balusters. A cellar beneath the rear wing has stone mullion windows. The building was converted into three dwellings in the 19th century.
