Description

2, Hall Yard is a house, originally dating to the 17th century, that has been altered in the 19th century and is now used as an outbuilding. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a Collyweston slate roof. The building likely began with a single-unit plan. It is a single storey structure with an attic. The front has two bays. A 20th-century double door is located on the left, and a large 19th-century casement window is to the right, both set under wooden lintels. A half-dormer on the left has a boarded opening. A brick stack is situated at the ridge. The right gable features a projecting stone stack. A blocked fire window, with a stone surround, is located at the intersection of the stack with the main hall. A 20th-century door, also under a wooden lintel, is on the left. Two blocked openings are visible at the first floor level, and are similarly protected by wooden lintels. The rear wall has been partially demolished. The interior has not been inspected, but there are visible remains of an open fireplace. The right gable has a projecting stone stack. The building is noted in An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire on page 104.
