Description

This is an early 19th century house located on the north side of West Street, Kingscliffe. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and has a Collyweston slate roof. The house has an L-shaped plan. The left bay is a single-window range featuring 8-pane sash windows with gauged stone heads, keyblocks, and ashlar surrounds. The bay to the right projects forward as a gabled cross-wing. The return wall of this cross-wing has a similar single-window range, and includes a 6-panel door set beneath a lattice porch. The gable end of the cross-wing has a single 6-pane sash window with a stone lintel, keyblock, and ashlar surround to the left, and a similar 9-pane window to the right, which appears to be a later insertion. Stone stacks are located at either end of the building. The interior, which was uninspected, is noted to contain early 19th century fittings. The building is included on the list for its group value.
