Description
Stable Hill Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is built of regular coursed limestone and features a thatched roof. The original design was a two-unit plan, and the cottage is a single storey with an attic. The front has a two-window range of eyebrow dormers with similar casements. The ground floor has 20th-century casements, which include glazing bars, set beneath renewed wooden lintels. To the right, there is a 20th-century door with a flight of steps, also under a wooden lintel. A brick stack is located at one end of the building. The rear of the cottage has 20th-century extensions. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bressumer, and a salt cupboard that features a fragment of 17th-century carving on the lintel. The ceiling beams and the base of a cruck have been altered in the ground floor room. The cottage is included for its group value.
