Description

LUDDINGTON MAIN STREET TL18SW 13/94 Lower Farmhouse 25/08/87 GV II

Farmhouse now house. Probably mid/late C17 altered C19. Squared coursed limestone with C20 plain tile roof. Originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. Irregular 4-window range of casements, some with glazing bars, under stop-chamfered wood lintels. Windows to ground floor left has moulded stone surround. Part-glazed plank door, to right of centre, has chamfered stone surround with 4-centred arch head. Remains of ashlar gable parapets and bases of stone stacks at ridge and ends. Lean-to extension, to rear left, has 2-light stone mullion window in side wall. Central, C19, two-storey extension has 3-light stone mullion window to right. Gable to left of main front has small arch-head window, now blocked, to first floor. Interior not inspected but noted as having remains of open fireplace.
