Description
No. 22 Hermitage Road is a house that likely dates from the early 18th century and was remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias stone and has a slate roof. The original design featured a three-unit plan and the house is single storey with an attic.
On the first floor, there is a three-window range consisting of 2-light casements with arched head lights and glazing bars, all set beneath gauged stone heads in gabled eaves dormers. The ground floor has a four-window range of similar casements, also under gauged stone heads. To the right of the center, there is a 20th-century part-glazed door, which is also set beneath a gauged stone head. The house features ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, along with brick stacks at the ridge and ends. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
