Description
No. 12 in Brockenhurst is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is built of squared coursed ironstone and has a slate roof. The original layout was a two-unit plan, and the house has two storeys with a three-window range of casements featuring glazing bars, all under gauged stone heads. The central casement on the first floor is from the 20th century, and there is a central 20th-century door beneath a similar stone head. The gable ends have ashlar parapets and brick stacks. To the right, there are 19th-century kitchen extensions, and the right gable has two casements, matching the two main front windows, along with a partially legible 18th-century datestone in the apex. A 20th-century extension is located at the rear. Inside, the room to the left of the entrance has an open fireplace with a bressumer and a chamfered spine beam, while the room to the right of the entrance also features a chamfered spine beam.
