Description
The building is a village hall and attached house, originally a school and master's house, dating from 1871. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with ashlar dressings and features a fishscale-patterned tiled roof. The structure was originally a single hall school with a vestibule and an attached two-unit house, forming an L-shape plan.
The main front has the school on the left, which features a two-window range of pairs of arch-head windows with ashlar dressings. To the far left, there is a gabled porch that includes the datestone. The two-storey cross wing to the right is the house, which has a two-light stone mullion window at the ground floor and a casement window above. There is a recess above the window with chequered decoration. The roof has a cast iron vent at the ridge and decorative ridge tiles. The elevation of the house to the right is similar, with stone mullion and casement windows, a central arch-head door opening, and a gable to the right. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
