Description

Stoke Albany House is a country house built in 1835 for the Humphrey family, with minor modifications made by Henry Littler in 1858. The house is constructed of brick and features a slate roof, displaying a double-depth plan in the Regency style. It stands two and three storeys high, with the main front being two storeys and comprising a five-window range. At the centre, there are a pair of part-glazed doors beneath a segmental brick arch with a fanlight above. A porch was added in the mid-20th century. The house has sash windows with glazing bars, set under gauged brick heads. The hipped roof is topped with brick stacks at the ridge.

To the left and right of the main front, there are two-window ranges that feature similar sash windows. The range on the right is three storeys tall. The garden front to the left mirrors the main front, consisting of two storeys and a four-window range. The elevation to the left of the garden front has a three-window range with a square bay and an open loggia on the ground floor, added in 1858.

Inside, the main staircase from 1835 features an iron balustrade and quarter landings that rise around a large open well, with a colonnade leading to the upper landing and moulded cornices. There is a reset marble fireplace in the drawing room and reset fielded panelling in the first-floor room to the right of the main front. A secondary staircase, also from 1835, has a stick balustrade.
